Sicily - the greatest island of the Mediterranean - gateway between Europe and Africa, only 3 km away from the tip of the Italian boot. According to an old legend it rests on three, strong columns sunk deep into the sea. itsGreek, Arab and Roman-European roots are still present nowadays.
Sicily offers many opportunities. Beside the contrasted landscape there are also many cultural and historical traces . Jus off the coast we have many smaller islands archipelagoes. Moving inland from the coastwe reach green hills and valleys and thene the vulcano Aetna; the ' mountain of the mountains ', how the Sicilians call it, always offering its ever-changing sight to travellers and nature lovers. The many cultural monuments, witnesses of an eventful history, in which Siculi, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans and Spaniards left their traces, still breathing throughout the whole island. Sicily offers sights and occasions of cultural intrest with its Greek temples, Roman Amphitheaters, Castes and cathedrals, up to the royal buildings in Palermo.
