The PERROTTA farm, at 700m above sea level, set between the mountain and the sea on the edge of the Parco dell’Etna (Etna Natural Park), sun-kissed all year long, offers you one of the most attractive and charming landscapes of the area, a traditionally warm Sicilian welcome, and typical and particularly tasty Cooking.
CASE PERROTTA lies at the heart of a Region packed with natural, cultural, archeological, architectural, and fruitful resources that can satisfy all interests and meet any curious tourist’s needs.
Nearby you’ll find the age-old Castagno dei 100 Cavalli (Chestnut tree), the pleasant, small town of Sant’Alfio, whose church has a peculiar bell tower, the Rifugio Citelli (alpine refuge), and the Museo Comunale (town museum) of Vines and Wine.
CASE PERROTTA’s handy geographical location means that it’s easy to go on walks, trips, excursions, trekking, canyoning, skiing and more, on Etna. All will provide you with unforgettable views of the volcanology and its flora and fauna.
A few kilometres away, you can visit the Etna Doc wine cellars, or the laboratories where honey and ass’s milk are produced, plus the other local products of the region.
From Etna’s craters to the Ciclopi rocks, from Taormina and its beaches to Siracusa and its Greek Theatre, from the Baroque in Catania to that to be found in Noto and Ragusa Ibla, from Piazza Armerina and its Roman mosaics to Caltagirone and its pottery: all this and more within easy reach, organized for you along with clear information and helpful suggestions.
Whatever the weather, at CASE PERROTTA you can enjoy our wide open spaces, walk along the estate’s paths (rasole) and observe our fruit production, learning about seasonal care and cultivation. Along the paths some old cellar tools and huge chestnut casks are on display to help the visitor understand some of the old wine-making methods, which have now been completely replaced by new knowledge and technology.
The largest dining room (once the cellar), the different smaller rooms, the large gazebo and the inner courtyard are all cosy habitats in which you can taste our exclusively typical Sicilian cooking from Menus put together using our own organic agricultural products paying particular attention to Regional Slow Food Regulations.
Our accommodation is provided in comfortably furnished en-suite Rooms made out of the old farm buildings, where you can spend peaceful days and relaxing holidays.
A special room is used as a small market where you can buy our organic produce and local crafts.
Our operation also offers painting, photography and craft exhibitions, and themed literary and culinary workshops.
